The Charity Action Group grew out of the Fundraising Committee that was established at the time of the Millennium when the Parish was making its Covenant with the Poor.

After this it was decided to continue to implement the Covenant by raising money for charities supported by the Parish. For the last ten years the Group has raised hundreds of pounds annually for a wide variety of causes. These causes have included large ones like CAFOD, small ones like the International Refugee Trust, Parish ones like our Lourdes Fund and non-denominational ones like Julia's House.

While the Group helps some charities regularly, it is happy to help any Parishioner to run an event for their choice of charitable cause. If you feel passionately about a need but are not able to manage an event by yourself, contact Anne Birchenough on 01202 848230 and we will see what we can do to help.

The events arranged by the Group help to develop the supportive side as well as the social side of Parish life, and they are occasions when those who go to the three different masses can get to know each other and enjoy themselves while continuing to help others in less fortunate circumstances.
